Pull-up banner sizes guide

Pull-up banners look simple until you have to order one. Width, height, single or double sided, and whether it needs to survive a year of being carried around all change what you should buy.

This guide covers the sizes we actually make, what each one suits, and the few details worth checking before you approve artwork.

Start with width, not height

Height varies far less than width. Most pull-up banners land between 1.5 and 2.4 metres tall, and the difference between them matters less than you would think once the banner is standing up.

Width is what decides whether your message reads from across a room or gets lost. It is also what decides whether the banner fits the space you have been given.

The standard widths

Across our pull-up range the standard widths are 500mm, 850mm, 1000mm and 1200mm.

  • 500mm – the slim one. Built for tight spots: beside a counter, in a doorway, at the end of an aisle. Room for a logo, a line of text and one image. Do not try to fit more.
  • 850mm – the most common size, and the one most people mean by a pull-up banner. Enough width for a headline, a few supporting lines and a decent image without crowding.
  • 1000mm – a step up in presence for not much more footprint. Worth it when the banner is doing the heavy lifting on a small stand.
  • 1200mm – the widest of the standard range. Use it when the banner is the main visual, or when you need the text readable from several metres back.

If you are ordering your first banner and have no particular constraint, 850mm is the safe choice.

When you need to go wider

Beyond 1200mm we move to the extra wide range, which runs 1500mm, 1800mm, 2000mm, 2400mm, 2700mm, 2900mm and 3200mm.

At these widths the banner stops being a sign and starts being a backdrop. A single 2400mm banner can stand in for a media wall behind a speaker or a photo point, and it packs down into one case rather than a kit of parts.

A practical note: two 1200mm banners side by side cost less than one 2400mm, but you will see the join. If the graphic runs across the full width, order the wide one.

Heights

Standard heights across the range are 1.5m, 1.8m, 2.1m and 2.4m, with the extra wide range reaching 2.9m.

  • 1.5m – short. Useful on a raised platform or a table, or where a ceiling is low.
  • 1.8m to 2.1m – the usual working range. This puts your headline above head height in a standing crowd, which is the whole point of a banner.
  • 2.4m and above – for large halls and exhibition floors, where anything shorter disappears behind people.

Check the venue's height limit before ordering anything over 2.4m. Shopping centres and some exhibition halls cap display heights, and a banner you cannot put up is an expensive lesson.

Single or double sided

A single-sided banner is the default and suits a banner against a wall. Double-sided versions are available where people will approach from both directions, which is common in shopping centres and in the middle of an exhibition aisle.

Double sided costs more than twice a single, because it is effectively two prints and a heavier base. Only order it where people genuinely walk past both sides.

The ranges, and what separates them

  • Premier pull-up banner stands – the everyday workhorse, from $239. Spring-loaded retractable mechanism, the four standard widths, heights from 1.5m to 2.4m.
  • Quickscreen exhibition banners – a cassette system, from $293. The graphic cassette can be swapped, so the same hardware can carry a new message next time.
  • Extra wide pull-up banners – from $825. Widths 1500mm up to 3200mm for backdrop duty.
  • Recycled banners – from $154, and the most economical option. Worth considering for short campaigns and for anyone with a sustainability line to hold.
  • Double sided shopping centre pull-up banners – from $380, built for the middle of a walkway.
  • Blade stands – a different shape entirely, 600mm to 1200mm wide, where you want something less rectangular.

Before you approve artwork

  • Leave the bottom 100mm clear of anything critical. The base hardware covers part of it, and people standing in front cover the rest.
  • Put the most important message in the top third. That is the part visible over a crowd.
  • Check the artwork is supplied at the right size for the banner you ordered, not the one you ordered last time. This is the single most common cause of a reprint.
  • Ask for the artwork guide for your specific size. We publish one per product.

A quick reference

  • First banner, no constraints: 850mm wide, 2.1m high, single sided.
  • Tight space: 500mm.
  • Backdrop or photo point: 2400mm from the extra wide range.
  • Middle of a walkway or centre aisle: double sided.
  • Short campaign or tight budget: recycled.
  • Reusing the hardware with new graphics each time: Quickscreen.
